Effective Education for Birth and Parenting

The classes aim to provide information on all aspects of pregnancy and giving birth to assist you to make your own informed choices.

The classes cover:

  • Looking after yourself in pregnancy and postnatally
  • What to expect during the birth process and working towards your choices
  • Pain relief: both hospital methods and natural skills such as breathing, relaxation, positions and massage.
  • Common hospital procedures
  • Caring for your newborn, including feeding information
  • The emotional side of having a new baby

The classes aim to empower you and your birth partner to be confident in your ability to give birth.

Partners are encouraged to attend all classes. Cuidiú classes help the partners feel a part of what is going on – both at the classes and at the birth.  The partner’s needs are also covered during the courses.

The ethos of Cuidiú is that we teach small groups to facilitate group discussions and activities. Courses are usually 6-8 weeks long with a postnatal reunion after the babies are born.

A set of classes entitles you to a year’s free membership of Cuidiú.

As a member, you have access to a wider network of support, including postnatal support and breastfeeding counselling.
