Antenatal Classes

Cuidiu – Irish Childbrith Trust run antenatal courses over a period of 6 weeks in small groups. It is an opportunity for women and their birth partner to prepare for birth and beyond. The classes include topics such as stages of labour, pain relief, how partners can help and how to cope during the first days at home. Classes run from week 20 onwards. In addition, a postnatal reunion is organised. Shorter weekend courses, one-to-one sessions and refresher courses are also available.

Breastfeeding Support ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it )

The Cuidiu Cork branch provides breastfeeding support in two ways. We have trained breastfeeding counsellors who are at the end of the phone to provide information and support to all those who ask. They are also happy to visit breastfeeding mothers at home or in hospital.

Breastfeeding support meetings are held in different areas around Cork. They are an opportunity to meet other breastfeeding mums and breastfeeding counsellors will be in attendance.

Parenthood Support

Parenthood Supporters are a group of Cuidiu members who can provide a listening ear and support for anyone who would like to talk in confidence about the ups and downs of parenting. They are available by phone and regularly attend Cuidiu events.

Parenting Courses ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it )

Cuidiu has been running parenting programmes for years. The purpose of the courses is to improve the way we get along with our children, to help communicate better with them and to discipline them more effectively. It is also a chance to speak freely in a confidential and respectful setting, meet other parents and have fun!
